2. What does it mean?

Any electrical or electronic equipment manufactured in or imported to the European Union is required to be free of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls ether (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) by July 1, 2006.
